What to expect as a new patient
Phase 1: Assessment
At Back In Balance we do not leave things up to chance. The first step to getting you well is to conduct a thorough examination to identify the root cause of your problem. During this phase, your chiropractor will perform various tests and likely refer you for X-rays (covered by Medicare).
Phase 2: Explanation
After the assessment phase, your chiropractor will review the findings of your tests and x-rays. From here we will craft you a personalised care plan designed to get you well. We always explain your case in simple terms and are upfront about expectations, fees, and treatment options.
Phase 3: Adjustments
The team at Back In Balance Chiropractic use the latest chiropractic techniques and adjustments to get you well. No two people are the same which is why we use techniques that are best suited to you. During this phase your chiropractor will perform ‘progress examinations’ where we are monitoring your progress ensuring you are responding as expected.
Phase 4: Optimisation
Chiropractic care is fantastic at helping you overcome pain and injuries, but only using chiropractic in this way is like robbing a bank and only stealing the pens! Chiropractic is designed to help your brain and nervous system function optimally. Most of our practice is filled with people who use regular chiropractic adjustments to feel and function at their best.
Chiropractic care for the whole family
At Back In Balance, our Canberra Chiropractors do not use a one-size-fits-all treatment approach. Our team is trained in multiple chiropractic techniques including low-force techniques that can be used on infants and the elderly. Our team has worked with hundreds of babies and infants, helping their little spines grow and develop without interference.
Please speak with our team about the best treatment options for your body and your goals. We will be happy to assist you and your family returning to optimum health.

The initial consultation will take at least 30 minutes. The Chiropractor will take a thorough case history (this can involve questions in regards to symptoms, medicines, health, lifestyle, injuries, supplements), then a comprehensive examination will be performed (postural analysis, gait, palpation, muscle testing, neurological & orthopaedic examination).
If x-rays are required you will be written a referral for the Phillip or Belconnen Medical & Dental Centre.

‘Remarkably’ according to a New Zealand study.
The New Zealand Government published an objective study of chiropractic. Many issues were studied, including cost effectiveness, chiropractic education and training, safety issues, and patient satisfaction.
Among other things, the resulting 377 page document concluded that chiropractic would have a positive influence on the health of a country.
The commission investigated two safety issues that had been commonly raised by chiropractic critics. The first being the safety of chiropractic spinal adjustments, and the second, the notion that seeking chiropractic care delays medical treatment. After extensive inquiry, the researchers found both safety concerns to be unfounded. Because of the lack of evidence to the contrary, the commissioners determined chiropractic care to be remarkably safe.
